Sharing Experiences with the Family
Due to the lockdown, Avisha got to spend much more time with her family. Read about her experiences below!
"For almost a year of lockdown, I was able to spend more and more time with my family. At first, it was going great. We were able to watch movies, bake, and do other fun activities together. But by the end of the first 2 months at home, we got bored. It felt like we had watched every movie to possibly exist. We needed a change. Through my dad’s work, volunteer days were being held. It was an amazing opportunity to try something new. We expected the activities to be a regular volunteer experience, but it was way more. The volunteering included a wide range of activities including creating a care package and creating puzzles for heroes. We spent over 2 hours finishing these activities. Those two hours only brought us closer to one another. My family and I had such a great time coming together to help our community. We bonded over our passion to make a difference in our community. The impact that the activities made lasted on my family. We continued to volunteer multiple other times and has become a way to bond and create an impact as a family. Through the difficult times of this pandemic, we were able to make the most out of it and help the people in need. We are so fortunate to have all the essentials and be healthy and happy. By volunteering with your family or just by yourself in small or big ways can make a huge difference. These activities can include creating masks for people or holding a food drive or even simply donating to your local charity. It’s the effort that counts."
